I hope all have had a successful marching season or a successful beginning to the year. I am looking forward to the clinic and working with each of you. The dates for this year’s Clinic are as follows: Clinic Auditions at Jones County Junior College onThursday, January 8, 2015, and the Clinic will be held Friday and Saturday, January 30thand 31st , 2015.
Clinicians for the High School Bands will be Sammy Barr retired and former Director of Bands Jones County Junior College, Ellisville MS, and Karen Henning from Liberty High school, Jackson TN. Clinicians for the Middle School Bands will be Matt Rowan from Pearl HS, Pearl MS and Matt Pickering from Pearl HS, Pearl MS.
The audition music has already been sent out via email and will be available on the website soon. As voted in 2013, the audition music was written so that it can be rehearsed in the full band setting. I hope you will find this helpful in your preparations with your students. The High School audition parts have the incorrect year in the title it should read 2015, sorry. If you did not receive this music via email, please call or email Chris Word and give him your correct email address. He will get that to you ASAP.
Inside this packet you will find all the information that you and your students need to prepare for the auditions and clinic. Please read everything very carefully! I ask that you take your judging or duty assignment very seriously at auditions. The earlier tryout time works very well, BUT ALL BAND DIRECTORS MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE AND ON TIME FOR THE AUDITIONS! This audition system does not work unless we have 2 judges in every room. In addition, we must have supervision of the students in the hallways and outside the building. Please remember that if your students are attending the auditions at JCJC, you must be in attendance also.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the SEMBDA officers regarding clinic concerns. I look forward to seeing each of you at our auditions and clinic.
